The Industrial Revolution was a time of change. The growth of factories replaced domestic industries and initiated the development of large cities. These growing cities with their factories created changes not only in people's working conditions but also in transportation and the type of work. There have been many positive economic changes and advancements, however, along with those positive economic changes there have been many negative changes in the social life and overall health of workers. 3Factory life was very demanding for the first generation of industrial workers who still remembered the slower, more flexible pace of country life. Factory employers required a complete change in pace and discipline from village life. Before the revolution, jobs were limited because work was completed using animals or manual force. Many of the jobs required men with specific skills that were acquired through long hours of work and practice. In the past and present it can be clearly seen that growing factories have given high commands to individuals to make work the birth of new technologies, including the adoption of the spinning jenny, the water loom and the spinning mule which have made possible the the textile industry. The economy and workers produced from their homes. They purchased the materials from traders and then returned to their homes to produce the product. Productivity for this type of work was slow but still efficient. The speed at which goods were produced affected the price of the good. Prices were high and were only accessible to the upper class. The industrial revolution allowed the mass production of products in a short time and at lower costs. This… middle of paper… lived in unsanitary, germ-infested homes and worked in very similar conditions. The women and children worked in difficult conditions, for very long hours, for very little pay. Workers would sacrifice their freedom, their families and their health just to put food on the table. The British Factory Act of 1833 was passed to improve working conditions and to impose restrictions on child labor. Eventually, men began to earn a living outside the home while women stayed at home and took care of the children. Europe has been changed both socially and economically and has led other countries through its own processes.
