I really started having "maternal" traits in January 2000, when my little sister Clarissa was born. My mother tells both stories, oh how I tucked her in, told her stories and brought her baby toys when she cried. Yes, most children love to help their parents after a sibling arrives, but I never "grew up" wanting to help with children. Because my parents had me so young, I was one of the first children in the family and the first in their group of friends. Not only am I the eldest son, but I am also the eldest cousin on both my mother and father's side. I was about eleven years old when my aunts and uncles started having children of their own. I was always so excited to visit my little cousins and would "slut" whatever kids were around. It worked for the adults in my family because I was always the one after taking some babysitting classes at the YMCA and Red Cross first aid and CPR classes; I decided to create a profile on Care.com. I initially messaged all the families who needed childcare in my area, but before I knew it I was receiving messages from people who had noticed me on the website. I babysat at least four times a week during the summer and was able to continue doing so a few times a month during the school year. During high school I was really able to expand my knowledge about childcare. All of the electives I was able to take were related to child care, including: child development, early childhood education, nutrition, and elementary education. With every lesson I learned something new about children. During my child development course I learned about the important stages of physical, cognitive and social development in children. In early childhood education and elementary education I brought my knowledge into the classroom. I spent alternate weeks during the school year as an aide in both the preschool and elementary school
