It may surprise many, but reading textbooks in class and talking about cultural diversity is not enough. We should therefore challenge ourselves to create methods for when we become teachers to help our future students be more aware of cultural diversity within the classroom. Going further, as a future teacher, taking this course is helping me become more aware of student cultures different from my own. In my interview with Ashley she explained that she is a middle class white girl who has always lived in the nicest part of town. The first week he attended high school he decided to spend lunch time with the vast majority of white people in school. Hence, because he saw that many people separated into groups. As a member of the majority race, the first time she felt uncomfortable wasn't until she met a girl who she became close friends with, who was from a different ethnicity than hers.
