Greek art today is known as "Classical Art". Some of the most famous Greek architecture was featured through sculpture, ceramics, or even built in temples more than 2,000 years ago in ancient Greece. We know some of the Greek masterpieces that have been lost, works such as: writings, diaries and other remnants of Greek history. Archaeologists and scholars have searched for the lost pieces for centuries with little success. Through art, the Greeks were able to incorporate the fundamental principles of their culture and society. For the Greeks, art was a way to reach generations to come. One thing the Greeks learned to master was Arete, which means excellence: it speaks of a person's achievement to reach their full potential in the expression of art. Greek architecture is another manifestation where their creativity was reflected and displayed.
