According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die every day due to poverty (Poverty Facts And Stats par. 4), and those are just children. While the number may seem surprisingly high, it was higher in previous years. The graph “Poverty levels over time of the world population (%)” shows the percentage of the poverty level that decreases over the years (Poverty Facts And Stats). From over 30% surviving on $1 a day to just over 10%, citizens around the world are doing a successful job of bringing publicity to world poverty and reducing the number of people experiencing it, but not only that. Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names (para. 8). A billion people without adequate education, a billion people who would die for the riches and luxuries of the middle class, we, we have a billion people suffering from poverty, about 14% of the world's population. The innovative practices we have applied around the world, however, have reduced the number of homeless people by almost 4% between 2012 and 2013, and by 9% since then. 2007 (2013
