When I think of the word interview I think of it as a series of questions asked by one person to another to seek information. In my previous evaluation we were asked to interview a colleague about his personal experience with QIBT so far this year. We weren't asked any questions, but we were asked to think of our own. While we were interviewing our peer, another peer was evaluating us on our overall interviewing ability. This piece of reflective writing will be an explanation of what I thought were my personal strengths and weaknesses during my interview. By reflecting on my previous interview I was able to distinguish both the positive and negative aspects of my interview giving myself time to examine the effects the negative points had on my overall interview skills and how I can improve those weaknesses for future interview opportunities. The main points that I believe I completed well were the following; my understanding of how to use a series of open-ended questions, also my ability to create a welcoming environment by immediately establishing rapport. From the beginning of my interview I have made it a personal goal to create a professional environment that allows Mary Doe to feel safe and able to speak openly when answering my questions about QIBT. One personal factor that I made sure I did correctly was arriving at the assessment dressed appropriately. This allows you to establish a professional theme right from the start of the interview. I started the interview well by introducing myself and the purpose of the interview. This lets you know clearly that nothing that is said today leaves this room, and I followed up by making sure you understand that and if you had any doubts previously or... halfway through the paper... .I feel uncomfortable. My overall interaction during the interview seemed positive. I allowed myself to follow what we had learned earlier in class about body language to positively influence my interview. This was seen mirrored by Mary Doe as she remained calm with positive body language throughout the interview even when we went in depth with some questions she remained calm and open to answer. This would not be possible if the environment I created for the interview was built on negative interaction, as she and I would be closed to the idea of opening up and answering any questions. Through effective body language I was able to facilitate effective communication. Since body language plays an important role in effective communication. This skill sets the overall tone for the entire interview. “Pan American Health Organization”
