The first is that “Since the rights of man were proclaimed “inalienable”, irreducible and indeductible from other rights or laws, no authority was invoked for their foundation…” (Arendt, 291). In addition to this, Arendt also states that “The Rights of Man, supposedly inalienable, have turned out to be inapplicable… Although everyone seems to agree that the plight of these people consists precisely in the loss of the Rights of Man , no one seems to know what rights they lost when they lost these human rights.” (Arendt, 293). Finally, he shares the thought that “We are not born equal; we become equal as members of a group based on our decision to grant each other equal rights.” (Arendt, 301).
