3. Main factors of religious influence In this part of the article we will focus on religion in Turkey, how Turkey is different from other Muslim countries, what are the main factors influencing religious faith today and how religion influences people's behavior and society as a whole. We will cover the question part later in our second report. Turkey is a very interesting country in terms of religious study. Geographically the country is located in Western Asia and partially in Southern Europe, but is considered an Eastern European country. The geographical location has left a mark in the country's history both politically and religiously, there is the presence of Western influence on Turkish society. Islam plays a significant role in Türkiye. The majority of the population (99%) is Muslim (Serif, 2011). Islam is one of the three world religions and is a relatively young religion that originated in the 7th century BC in the west of the Arabian Peninsula. The main principle of Islam is monotheism: "There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet." The word Islam in Arabic means "submission", and Muslim (from Arabic "Muslim") - humble. Islam encourages its supporters to be obedient to God and fate ordained them (Religion in Türkiye, n.d.). In Türkiye, as in most democratic countries, there is freedom of religious choice and belief. The Muslim religion is divided into several subgroups. Most Muslims in Türkiye are Sunni (72 percent). ) and the Alevis of the Shiites (about 25%). The remaining 3% of the Muslim population in Türkiye is a Twelver Shia community representing 3% of Muslims a means to unify their empire” (1995). as a departure from the secular principles of the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The question we ask ourselves: what does this law mean for people? One of the Turkish professors, while explaining Turkish culture, said that wearing hijab is a woman's choice. Despite the fact that women in Türkiye are not forced to wear hijab, some of them are forced to wear it against their will. They do it so as not to be judged by society, the so-called "street pressure". Nowadays, Turkish women do not have full freedom in their actions, cultural pressure has a strong impact on their behavior. Even though the pressure is strong, many women prefer not to wear the hijab. It is a woman's choice whether to let herself be influenced by others or follow her own instincts and desires.
