The French Revolution was a period in the history of France covering the years 1789-1799, in which the monarchy was overthrown by people dissatisfied with how the king and queen were ruling the village. According to the War Times Journal, “The era itself can be divided into two periods; The French Revolution and the Napoleonic Empire. The Revolution and subsequent republic saw the overthrow of the old French monarchy and its replacement with a series of sporadically violent civil administrations. At the height of the violent period, known as "The Terror", the former king and queen were cruelly put to death. This act galvanized the other nations of Europe against France and ensured that, no matter what improvements were made later, the resulting nation would never enjoy the cooperation of other European leaders.” There are many reasons for this revolution such as political and social inequalities, government failure, the influence of the enlightenment, and the American Revolution. The king only cared about himself and his kind (the royals and the rich) who were not affected by his hasty actions. He also cared about the United States more than his own country, which led to them getting involved in the American Revolution and caused more debts that he couldn't pay, and the government started taxing "normal" people who paid half of his income for cover debts to aristocrats and other financiers. The poor, who made up 98% of the population, became angry at the monarchy for taxing them instead of the nobles, which they felt was unequal when why are you taxing us and we barely have enough money to live on? does it mean? This made them feel frustrated with the king and queen, so they took Matt... middle of paper... alive and intelligent, strengthening France before it was once again brought to its knees by Britain. I believe France simply wanted to have a just government and with a monarchy they were under a dictatorship where they had to follow their own rules otherwise they would probably be put to death. The injustice of the king and queen played a big role for me in the cause of this revolution because I feel they wanted to keep the poor, the poor and the rich, rich, which is not fair to the lower class and that made them get angry. It is understandable that as a citizen you want someone who will build your country, not tear it down or cause more economic problems for the people. In the end they managed to do exactly what they set out to do. Overthrow the monarchy and gain your independence without having to suffer hasty actions from an indifferent and unjust monarchy.
