In today's society, many people prefer both genres. However, in some cases there are people who are horror junkies and don't care for comedy and on the other hand there are people who can't handle horror themed situations and settle for comedy. There are many films and some novels that take horror films and make fun of them. These directors or authors typically use comedy to shed light on the horror films they have chosen to make fun of. On average these genres clash, but at the same time they can complement each other. Because some people watch a comedy after a horror movie to calm down, or they watch a comedy first to calm down and mentally prepare for a nice evening.
