Topic > Analysis of Vygotsky's Cognitive Development - 817

“Vygotsky states that cognitive development results from social interactions resulting from children's guided learning and the co-construction of knowledge by their partners. In contrast, Piaget argues that cognitive development derives largely from independent explorations in which children construct their own knowledge. For Vygotsky the environment in which children grow up will influence how they think and what they think about”. While I believe that children learn through experiences and exploration, Vygotsky's thought that they learn most from guidance is what I agree with most. They can explore new environments, but an adult will help guide them and teach them not to do certain things or to prevent injuries or accidents from occurring
