Avian Flu now better known as Avian Flu only because the flu that may have an animal name does not necessarily come from an animal, the flu genes are similar to animals. Bird flu apparently affected mainly birds, chickens and wild birds. The first bird flu to infect a person occurred in Hong Kong in 1997. Since then bird flu infection has spread from Hong Kong to several places around the world such as Europe, Asia and even the Middle East with unaffected birds by people. When avian influenza first evolved, it occurred primarily through birds, and over time it spread through other birds around the world. In my opinion I find it rare that it is possible for an animal to infect a human, I would think the only way a person could be infected from an animal would be rabies. With this flu and other viruses that come from animals, the virus in birds or animals can change and mutate. If this were to happen, the world would become an explosion of disease.
