Topic > Anti-Slavery Movement vs. Abolitionist - 737

The anti-slavery movement had begun before the mid-nineteenth century; It wasn't news to anyone. However, during the mid-19th century, anti-slavery movements increased and gained more strength. These movements were specifically centered toward the system of slavery in the South. Before 1830, anti-slavery movements existed; after 1830 the abolitionist movements began. Although both were against the same issue, both had different impacts on the nation. One was more peaceful, the other was considered fanatical and dangerous because of those who supported him. The anti-slavery movement was subtle. Those who were part of the moment were generally calm and kind. Instead of engaging in apparent activities, people regularly expressed moral disapproval. When they concentrated on an orderly anti-slavery movement, they focused on the concept of colonization. Its goal was to resettle African Americans in other places, such as Africa or the Caribbean. A small group of prominent whites from Virginia organized the American colonization system in 1817. The way it was organized was so as to challenge slavery efficiently without challenging Southern property rights or feelings. He encouraged masters to free their slaves, mostly by compensating them with funds raised from private charities or state legislatures. Then the company will take the freed slaves to another country and help the slaves settle and create a new society elsewhere. Those who funded the ACS were private donors, such as members of Congress and legislatures from Virginia and Maryland. These funds organized the shipment of several slaves out of the country. However, the ACS was a failure and was an unimportant force... in the middle of the paper... in Illinois. He was repeatedly attacked by mob violence. After three attempts to destroy his press, enraged whites set fire to his building and shot him dead as he tried to flee. Others have used propaganda to awaken widespread public anger. The most influential propaganda was the book “Uncle Tom's Cabin”. However, others have taken more moderate paths, hoping that abolition can be achieved as the result of a long and patient struggle. They depended on “moral suasion” and political action. The anti-slavery movement caused no effect on the nation. They actually tried to find a way not to disturb the southerners. However, he had no strength and vanished. Now the abolitionist movement was a major example of how slavery was dividing America. Abolitionists were not people who did not take political commitments lightly. They were more inflamed and provoked strong opposition.
