Jesus sacrificed his life for the sins of all for the purpose of redemption, allowing his followers to gain forgiveness. In the novel The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, Amir realizes that he must risk his life to free him and his father from their sins. Amir longed for the rebirth of a new life, but was unsure how to live a life free from sin. In relation to the poem Redemption by James Casey, Amir also ran and hid from his problems. Escaping to California with his father didn't give Amir the refreshing start he'd hoped for. Amir's wishes included: redemption for offending Hassan, his father's approval, and general acceptance and forgiveness. Amir longed for redemption for the wrongs he had suffered from his childhood friend, Hassan. Watching his friend and stepbrother be the victim of rape without intervening made Amir feel guilty forever. Unable to overcome the traumatizing event, Amir frames and rejects Hassan. Amir was selfish in not resisting Hassan's rape. He believed he needed the kite that Hassan was being abused for to gain love and respect ...
