In The Great Gatsby, Gatsby finds himself in a difficult situation and can't get out of it. He is having an affair with a married woman he loves very much. He's not the only character in the book who finds himself in that situation. Most of the main characters are in relationships. This leads to all the characters getting into physical altercations. Gatsby and the other main characters go through a physical journey that ultimately ends in fatal tragedies due to mutual affairs with each other's lover.
