Crimes such as murder and aggravated assault are considered among the most serious crimes as homicide involves the deprivation of a person's life while aggravated assault involves the attempt to deprive life of a person or even the intention to cause serious injury (Putkonen et al 52). Over the years, an extensive analysis of the act of homicide has been conducted in which the formulation of a series of hypotheses regarding the nature of the act of homicide has involved verifying them through the use of data on police homicides and therefore creating models in criminal justice. Similarly, studies based on investigations conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation have indicated classifications of the crime of aggravated assault in terms of assault with intent to kill or with the purpose of inflicting serious bodily injury by shooting, stabbing, cutting, poisoning, to name just a few. just a few. This paper will focus on determining patterns prevalent among homicide offenders and characteristics based on age, race, and gender. It will also attempt to determine the correlation between homicide rates versus assault rates. However, determining these elements will involve an emphasis on the percentage rates that occur based on the characteristics. To begin with, vulnerability to violent crime victimization involves variations across the age spectrum where the rate of these cases increases significantly during adolescence and accelerates at age 20 and beyond. The pattern of these events implies the existence of characteristics such as age, race, and gender (Putkonen et al 53). Some of the murder crimes include rape, sexual assault, robbery, and aggravated assault. According to t...... half of the document ......ve a greater probability of committing murder towards other ethnic groups due to the disregard of their social rate. Further studies indicate that ethnicity-based homicide cases in 2009 increased significantly for whites while a reduction occurred for blacks. The reduction in these cases saw a significant reduction in the rate of murderous attacks propagated by blacks while whites experienced an increase indicating disparities in cultural elements (Chan, Eric, and Wade70). Mostly, men from the African American community indicated a higher rate of homicidal attacks than women as they would attack people in public places or even be assaulted. On the other hand, white men indicated an increase in attacks against other communities. Women indicated relatively lower homicide cases in ethnic communities.
