If I were to simplify what I do simply as a pilot, it would be easy to use this excuse, but that's not the reality. The actions that define leadership are exactly what we do on the airplane every time we fly as pilot in command. While many of us don't want to be formal leaders, the reality is that we are leaders albeit informal ones. We owe it to ourselves and to those who look up to us by providing them with the best example possible. We owe it to those who seek our advice to be truthful and honest with them. We cannot and should not be the quintessential yes-man that seems to be expected nowadays
