TOPIC: PROS AND CONS OF MIGRATION, MOBILITY AND CULTURE IN CANADA http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/05/18/marni-soupcoff-canada -talks-about-diversity-talks-but-we-walks-about-diversity-walks/ In this essay I will provide some information about the pros and cons of migration, mobility and culture in Canada. Migration by definition is "moving from one place to another with the aim of settling and improving one's standard of living". People migrate due to push and pull factors. Push factors include natural disasters, political violence, poverty, and pull factors include safety, economic opportunity, and family reunification. By this definition, Canada (as a whole) complies with it as its living standards are high compared to other countries. People immigrate to Canada because they know that their standard of living will improve for them and their family. Those who want to emigrate to Canada must also consider starting their job with a minimum wage. The minimum wage for Canada ranges from $9 to $10.50, which again is relatively high compared to the United States, Canada's neighbor, which starts at around $7-$10. Inevitably, all those who emigrate to Canada from third world countries (with no American experience) start at minimum wage. so this plays an important factor in deciding where to live. The reason for this is that people who emigrate from third world countries generally have no American experience, which unfortunately creates a barrier between the two. These barriers cause a huge deficit (more than -50 million dollars) for the Canadian economy. Immigrants who are certified doctors, engineers, teachers etc..., are rejected by Canada as they lack experience and are forced to work alone with... half of paper... g. All of these wonderful services in Canada come for a price that some might consider very acceptable. That price is taxes. Taxes in Canada are higher than in the United States and this is a disadvantage. As a result, overall home prices and expenses increase. In conclusion, Canada is a good country. It has many bonuses in terms of services and all in all it is better than the US. Although I said there is little difference between the two, the purpose is not to compare. Canada has some major barriers in common with other countries, but does not have relatively major barriers in and of itself (the country). vcvvWorks Citedhttp://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tableaux/sum-som/l01/cst01/demo62a-eng.htmhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_Canadahttp://en.wikipedia.org /wiki/Crime_in_Canada#Crime_statistics_by_province_and_territory
