Topic > A Visit to the New Office - 788

If given the opportunity to set up and design a medical office, I would strive to create an environment suitable for average suburban families of all income levels, offering comfort and convenience. I would first identify a facility where the majority of our patient care can be done in one place. Ideally, there would be various specialties, a pharmacy, radiology and imaging, and laboratory services. This would provide convenient accessibility for patients needing dual care, specialty or medications after their first visit with us. When you enter this office you will be peacefully enveloped in pale sage, tan and neutral tones, creating a sense of warmth and comfort. You could hang your coat or dry your umbrella by the door (Wells, 2005). Beautiful canvases with panoramic views from across the United States would provide a glimpse of the magnificence that our country still retains, and the silk trees create small accents and a sense of harmony throughout the room (Harrison, 2010, p.4). There would be some sort of separation within the waiting area. A reading corner could be set up in the area closest to the door, for those seeking tranquility and privacy while waiting. They would have four large armchairs for relaxing, magazines, newspapers, educational materials and slightly less lighting. The center of the room would be the main waiting area, with large cloth chairs with no arms, no restrictions, and would give individuals a sense of personal space. Ten chairs faced each other on either side of a large coffee table filled with magazines and newspapers. Five more chairs would serve as the "head" of the wall-facing area with a mounted television, a water station, and all of our learning materials organized for pick-up...half of the paper...of our practice would be helpful. I would need extensive training for our electronic registration system to ensure that new employees subsequently receive appropriate training. I would like training in human resources to support an environment that fosters the professional development of our employees. Working to create and maintain a successful practice would be my top priority. Works CitedHarrison, C. (2010). Medical practice manual. (pages 2-27). New York, NY: McGraw-Hill. Wells, J. (2005, May).
