The application of social media has joined educational institutions. International universities have begun to expand their educational techniques and extend their principles on social media as one of the ways to communicate with students. Analysis of the world's most prestigious universities and their performance on social media sites leads to data showing that all social networks are included when it comes to communication with students. The most effective is Facebook, created at Harvard University with the aim of communicating between students. A couple of years later they spread to Fun Pages, intended for corporate advertising. In addition to the social network Facebook, LinkedIn appears, for commercial purposes. LinkedIn works to reduce the age of its users, explaining that it wants to allow younger generations, such as future students, to more easily find university to continue their studies. All this shows that universities are well present in the LinkedIn social network and there can be a large amount of information about them. Many universities have their presentations on YouTube channel, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, but much less on Pinterest, which may soon change due to the trend of needing to dominate the market through social networks. The question is whether social media should be used for educational purposes and at what level. In relation to students' connection to the e-learning site or platforms, students' attachment to Facebook is much higher. Especially on summer days, when students are on holiday. Students are asked not to want their studies to be displaced by this social network, as they may be distracted by constant notifications of what their friends are doing... middle of paper......h2006.pdfTanja E Bosch, Using online social networking for Teaching and Learning: Facebook use at the University of Cape Town, November 2009 (Online) Available: http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/17439880902923606Stutzman, F. 2008.
