Summary In the article “The Association between Health and Education in Australia” the author discussed the associations affecting poor health, limited education and relationship between health and education for indigenous Australians. Biddle emphasized how education can prolong good health and how good health can lead to higher educational achievement that encourages employment and provides life benefits such as higher income and improved living standards. Quantitative research was undertaken and data were analyzed using probit model estimates from the 2001 National Health Survey, conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The data was limited to Australians aged 20 to 64, who were likely to have completed high school, but were not retired. Poor health was linked to; education, housing and geographical variables. The conclusion drawn suggests that Indigenous Australians who had completed high school were associated with better health outcomes. Biddle suggested that with higher education individuals engaged in better health knowledge and completed compulsory health and physical education subjects, with this knowledge, and the confidence to use the knowledge, can bring benefits to your health. Furthermore, Biddle indicated that healthy individuals are capable of starting education in the first place.
