Topic > The Commandments of Society - 767

Have you ever wondered why we have to say “bless you” when someone sneezes? Why is it considered rude not to hold the door open for someone who is following right behind you? We do these and many other small actions without even thinking about why we do them. For a society to be successful it needs three things: an economy, a religion and, above all, a set of rules to follow. These rules, or commanders, are what transform our society into a strong and stable civilization. Without such commandments the world of people would be unjust, unsanitary and at the same time inhumane. The first and probably most important of these unwritten commandments is the Golden Rule. In different societies and cultures the Golden Rule has a different meaning. However, the most internationally recognized golden rule states: “Treat others the way you would like to be treated.” This rule is very underlined during the academic journey of adolescence. The reason why it is important for everyone to know this rule is because it is based on the principles of honesty, care and sharing. Those who are not taught the Golden Rule end up growing up as rude and superficial adults. The Second Commandment is based on the Golden Rule and the principles it teaches and more. You must always give way to the elderly and disabled. The reason this rule should be instituted is because I have personally seen elderly and handicapped people struggle on the city bus to find a seat all the way to the back. This problem could be easily avoided if society followed the basic principle that the elderly and disabled are not able to carry out daily activities easily. Society should be educated enough to offer assistance to those who are unable to take... half the paper... the human being." No one has the right to take the life of another unless provoked against him an extreme danger. Everyone has the right to live their own life and no one in society can make such decisions to take away the precious gift of life. It seems annoying, but people die every day for the wrong reasons! must learn that taking someone else's life is an action that should and will not be without consequences. As stated earlier, these rules, or commanders, are what transform our society into a strong and stable civilization them our society would be in disarray. To live a good life people need to establish rules. Imagine if everyone in society tolerated these commandments, our civilization would be free from disease, conflict, unjust deaths and would be considered much more peaceful..
