Although George is angry with Lennie, he reassures Lennie that everything is fine and tells him the story of their farm. George gives up on the American dream of owning a farm and the possibility of a better life with Lennie. Now he is fully aware that all his plans and dreams are worthless. George also realizes that he is just a humble migrant worker with no future; will never own a little piece of land to call home sweet home. Lennie gives George a sense of meaning and purpose in life. Lennie's death gives way to the death of their American dream
