"Every virtue is summarized in justice" (Aristotle 114). When establishing a community, leaders often want to achieve an ideal and just society. To achieve this state of justice, they established principles to guide and shape the newly founded civilization. Unfortunately, correct values are often misused or not put into practice. This can lead to the decline of a community, where people never reach a point of true justice. Therefore, a just society must be based on solid beliefs. This foundation is achieved through the principles expounded by Aristotle and the teachings of virtue in the New Testament. Laws should regulate people's actions. Every individual should receive equal distribution of goods, and for civilization to remain just, every person should lead a virtuous life. Laws hold a society together as a means of protecting people and creating order. Aristotle states: "Because the just exists only between men whose mutual relationship is regulated by law, and the law exists where injustice can occur. Because legal judgment decides and distinguishes between what is just and what is unjust" ( Aristotle 129). Explain that humans are fallible creatures and sometimes need a form of regulation when they deviate from the path of justice. Therefore, to keep society together, a series of laws should be enacted, along with a council to preside over the laws created. Even Jesus knows the importance of a law when he responds to his disciples: «You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. […] You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (The Holy Bible 24). The greatest commandments given in the New Testament cover two main areas of being faithful… middle of the paper… men are still fallible creatures, who are unlikely to act virtuously. Although most societies have laws to govern people, members are only punished when they act unjustly at a higher level towards others, such as killing another person or stealing. Members often try equality with ideas such as socialism, such as China and Russia. However, over time, they evolve into communism and often fall into disrepair, because the system is corrupted by members with higher social status. The defects of the just society today lie in 'individual who does not live a virtuous life. Either they do not care to have justice within themselves or they do not recognize the impact that their unjust actions have on the people around them. While members of a civilization live without virtue, it would be difficult to an ideal just society existed. Works Cited Aristotle Jesus
