Symbolism in MacbethThere are many literary techniques in the play Macbeth. What struck me the most would be the symbolism. I feel like the play has evolved around symbolism, and it really makes a huge difference in the play Macbeth. Somehow in the play it is always dark when a horrible event is about to happen. In act 1, scene 5 and line 3 Lady Macbeth asks the “thick night” to come with the “smoke of Hell”, basically saying not to let the dagger see that she is using it to wound the king. The darkness is comparable to the dark act he is doing at that moment in the play. Another example in act 1, scene 5 and line 3 of how darkness plays an important role in Macbeth is when Lady Macbeth calls on the murderous spirits to "Keep the sky from peeking through the blanket of darkness to cry wait, wait !" She is saying that the light will protect her from anything bad and is the only thing that could stop her from killing Duncan. Light and life are also great symbols in Macbeth because Lady Macbeth thinks that light will protect her from evil, but always evil. I found it again. When Lady Macbeth begins to go mad, she always wants a candle of life with her in act 5, scene 1 and line 4. When Macbeth learns of Lady Macbeth's suicide, he responds with "out, out short candle" in act 5 , scene 5. , line 3. The flame of the candle was also an example of a metaphor for the very short life of Lady Macbeth who lived full of darkness for the last memories of her life. This also applies to Banquo's torch going out the moment he is killed by the assassins in act 3, scene 3 and line 1. Another example is the night King Duncan is killed by Macbeth, Lennox said there is it was a fire in his chimney" that popped up for no reason in the middle of a sheet of paper. It was said that an owl killed a hawk and that doesn't usually happen, so right there you see that the natural The order of how they should going things in the world do not change in this time period due to the actions of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in the last months of their lives From blood, to daggers, to nature, there are many symbols that represent deep, dark events that happened to Macbeth .It gives him a very sinful attitude throughout the play that makes you feel all the emotions that the characters must have felt.Having such strong symbols made this game so interesting because the symbols are always connected to each other, so everything is related to each other and simply has several meanings instead of just one.
