In 2000, Dutch legislation made brothels legal in the Netherlands. The rationale behind their legislation was to control prostitution. Given the legal age, people could now voluntarily sell and buy sexual services. This article evaluates a position that human trafficking is reduced when people in the area of legalized prostitution are made accountable for what happens on their premises. This idea is challenged by the evidence observed on the Netherlands in general and on the city of Amsterdam. Furthermore, the paper addresses two questions. What are the consequences of legalizing prostitution and prosecuting sex trafficking? How does law enforcement work with people in these areas? The main conclusion is that the brothel owners' broadcast does not create sufficient levels of clarity to allow sex trafficking to be reported. The business of prostitution has many characteristics of an illegal business, and the legalization and regulation of the prostitution industry has not eliminated organized crime. This article is vital evidence for the thesis of my article. Each point of my argument is summarized in the two main arguments of this article.
