Addiction is one of the worst diseases that occur throughout the world. They are coming in different forms and attacking different age groups. Our society is aware of the numerous drug addictions people face; however, when we think about addiction, the play on words slips past us. Our society is used to seeing drug-related addictions, which are popularized by today's society. Many of our children and teenagers are drawn into video game addiction. This is thanks to the amount of time they spend playing video games. Video game addiction is on the rise among our youth. Their physical and mental health is compromised. While I love playing video games for longer hours, I also believe there should be limits and restrictions on the time spent playing video games to help stop this growing epidemic. Many children play large amounts of video games, causing them to lose sleep and many other activities. For example, in the article “Video Game Addiction for Children” by Tammy Darling, she provides parents with the warning signs of video game addiction. For example: "fantasizing or talking excessively about game characters or missions when not playing, lying or hiding how much time you spend playing, losing interest in sports and hobbies, choosing games over time with friends, and plummeting grades" . In other words, kids are dedicating their lives to video games. For a moment 8.5% of players aged between 8 and 18 can be considered pathologically addicted. As a result we should create restrictions on the amount of playing time they should be able to play uninterruptedly. In my opinion it's easy to add restrictions to video games. Nowadays game developers can create software in the middle of paper......ety doesn't see the problem with this type of addiction, we will get used to it and this addiction will be taken lightly. Limits and restrictions on time spent playing video games should be urgently enforced to avoid long-term harm to our children. The effect that video game addiction can produce can be very dangerous for our young people. Mark Griffiths shows that in some countries such as China they have implemented restrictions to reduce the chances of video game addiction. On the contrary, I know this can be a lot of work, but in my opinion parents should be able to schedule their children's video games when they are not at home to reduce the time spent playing video games. Video games these days are very fun and somewhat educational, but they are more addictive than ever. We should know about it and learn how this fun game can hurt our children.
