IntroductionThe official name of Zimbabwe is the Republic of Zimbabwe. It is a landlocked country located in southern Africa. Its capital and largest city is Harare. It is surrounded by countries including Zambia to the northwest, Botswana to the southwest, South Africa to the south and Mozambique to the east (cite). The country covers approximately 150,871 square miles. It has a tropical climate with a rainy season that runs from November to March. According to a July 2013 demographic estimate, Zimbabwe's population stands at 13,182,908. The Republic of Zimbabwe is a multi-ethnic country with 98% of the population being African. Its people are known as Zimbabweans. The Shona (82%) and Ndebele (14%) ethnic groups make up the largest portion of the population. The country has 12 official languages with English as the primary language of instruction in schools. Zimbabwe's system of government is a hybrid between presidential and parliamentary systems of government. It is led by a president elected by majority vote. The political framework is structured in such a way that the president exercises full control over the country's affairs. There are three branches of government: the executive, parliament and the judiciary. The president is the head of both government and state under the 2013 constitution. The president appoints the cabinet and senior judicial officials. The government exercises executive power while both the government (the president) and parliament exercise legislative power. Zimbabwe is divided into eight provinces, each headed by a governor appointed by the president. There are several political parties in Zimbabwe, but only two of them have broad support to...... middle of paper...... manage the transportation of raw materials and products to their intended destinations. Restoring rail services through privatization will improve the efficiency and accountability of the sector. The development of the national fiber optic network in the country is necessary to lay the foundation for the efficient expansion of ICT in all sectors of the economy. Conclusion In conclusion, Zimbabwe has the potential to be one of the developed countries in Africa due to its natural resources. What is needed is a stable and peaceful government. Furthermore, the country needs international support to succeed in most of its development areas. However, given the current political situation in Zimbabwe, Mugabe's government needs to change its governance style regarding human rights to gain foreign support. All this will only be possible when there is the political will of the government.
