IntroductionHong Kong has been a leading logistics hub in Asia and the world over the past decades. We have been ranked as the world's busiest port for Hong Kong Airport and container port for more than ten years. Yet in recent years, Hong Kong has faced strong competition, especially from neighboring ports, namely Shenzhen. Although Shanghai and Singapore are surpassing Hong Kong in terms of container volume, we are geographically separated, so we do not serve the same cargo source. Therefore this article will mainly focus on the comparison between neighboring ports. I will analyze the competitiveness of Hong Kong as a logistics hub following the aspects of cargo volume, government policy and costs. AnalysisCargo VolumeHong Kong is one of the busiest seaports and airports. Hong Kong's seaports handled 23.1 million TEUs in 2012. It is the third busiest container port in the world. But the transport volume fell by 0.7%, from 24.4 million TEU in 2011 to 23.1 million TEU. And it is expected to continue to decline. Meanwhile Shenzhen handled 22.9 million TEU in 2012 and is constantly increasing. It is expected to surpass the traffic of the port of Hong Kong in 2013. In addition to Shenzhen, the traffic of the ports of Singapore and Shanghai is also steadily increasing. In contrast, Hong Kong Airport's traffic ranked first in 2012 with 4.03 million tons. We have doubled productivity compared to Shanghai and Singapore. Air cargo traffic increased by 2.2% in 2012. Hong Kong Airport has a solid lead in the world and in the Pearl River Delta (PRD).
