I realize that my main goal in life is to be a person I can be proud of. My continued perseverance and hard work prove that achieving my goals is much harder than it seems. At the beginning of high school, my main goal was to survive the trials and tribulations and get into my dream university. As the end of high school approached, my priorities changed dramatically, as did my goals. As a long-term goal I want to create a non-profit organization for children in India, but to do that I first need to achieve my short-term goal of getting the specialization and job I want. As I fearfully write my college applications, my short-term goal is to receive admission to my desired major: biomedical engineering. Throughout my high school career, I didn't know what I wanted to do in life. Through intense research and conferences on different occupations, I found my dream job. Yet, ultimately, this dream job led me to become anxious. I am constantly worried about whether I will get into biomedical engineering, and if I do, whether or not it will be at my dream college, Georgia Tech. U.S. News & Report ranked Georgia Tech's biomedical program as number one in the nation. As a result, I am firmly focused on the work I need to do to make my dream a reality. My interest in biomedical engineering grew out of my interest in robotics. I was so attracted to the topic that I went to the library to look for books on the topic and watched countless documentaries on the advancement of technology. I dream of creating advanced medical devices and prosthetic legs, and biomedical engineering allows me to do this by combining my love of medicine and technology. My goals are in a series of steps. To make sure you accomplish m...... middle of paper......times despised due to cultural customs. I also want to use engineering as a way to teach girls in India that they can be whoever they want and that gender doesn't matter. By giving women in India more decisions, I believe I can help narrow the gender gap and create more equality. While these goals are difficult to achieve and some might call them “overly ambitious,” I believe that if I set my mind to it, it can be done. Although my short and long term goals are very ambitious, I believe that if I work hard and persevere, I can achieve them. All the goals I set have a great deal of meaning and personal meaning behind them. Current short-term goals pave the way for future ones. The goals I set remind me that I have to work hard day and night to make them a reality and give my life purpose.
