Topic > Underage Drinking: Enforcement of the Drinking Age - 1155

For decades, some people have pondered how to address the problem of underage drinking; government people, parents and other individuals involved in global affairs. The problem is that the issue of underage drinking and the nationwide ineffectiveness of the twenty-one drinking age law is not being debated and discussed as much and as aggressively as it should be. And the main topics of discussion should be the issue of binge eating among teenagers and college students, problems related to alcohol consumption and statistics in foreign countries, and finally, possible solutions to this problem. The main point is that states in our country can only attempt to enforce the law and not attempt to address the problem in any other way. So, for this reason, states should be allowed to identify and experiment with possible ways to resolve the issue on their own, without interference from the government. Many adults these days could tell stories from college about all the frat parties they've been to, all their house party experiences in high school, and how many times they got absolutely "hammered." And during these uncontrolled occasions, there is no adult supervision. Furthermore, it is almost impossible for police authorities to be able to monitor and know what is happening in a person's home. Furthermore, enforcing the drinking age is not a priority for the police anyway. Many of them know that it will continue and, furthermore, when they do manage to catch and arrest someone for illegal alcohol consumption, it takes a great deal of time and effort for paperwork and processing.
