Item no. 1: Martina Enriquez Age: 17 Question no. 1st answer: How did you deal with the moment when puberty began? Have you asked others for help? Just like a normal teenager, Martina's puberty began when she was around 12 years old. Surrounded by many women, Martina should have less confusion about the onset of her puberty. However, having grown up in a Latino community where sexual roles are defined, she said it was difficult to deal with the changes in her young body. He shares, “It wasn't easy for me; when I was younger I was kind of a tomboy so the physical changes were pretty strange to me. I was so reluctant to ask, even my mother. In fact, I lived in a community full of women and we are closely related, but there is this certain feeling as if anything physical or sexual seems taboo.” Martine adds that her carefree character suffers a little, especially during her first menstruation. He remembers: “I couldn't do many things, like riding a bicycle or simply running. It's as if even my grandmother told me that physical activities are not entirely feminine." Finally, I would consider the experience I got interviewing two young people to be educational, entertaining and informative – and I truly respect and admire the fact that they allow me to share personal and sensitive issues such as their sexuality.
