An example of a real life situation that constitutes this idea is a mother's account of her son's illness: "Her son no longer came out of his trailer to get food to prepare a meal. So she became a delivery service. She would bring the food to the trailer, leave it outside and hope her son would open the door and take the food” (“Impact of Mental Illness on Families”). In this example, a mother describes when the situation with her son became so bad that he no longer left the house even for necessity. To the point that his mother became his so-called “slave” and delivered his groceries to his home he would have recognized her because of the amount of fear created by her illness.
