Sontag Essay-Qualify Susan Sontag's essay on how photography has limited people's understanding of the world contains many interesting points that can be shared and at the same time has few that I tend to to disagree. Photography can be good and bad; he can open our minds to new cultures and experiences through his images. However, at the same time it can limit our understanding of the world around us and the world around the image it is portraying. Sontag states that the camera's rendering of reality must always hide more than it reveals. This may be true in some situations but is not necessarily applicable to all. Sontag is right to make this statement when you apply it as she did through her example of the photograph of Krupp Works and how it shows us just one factory. When we look at this photograph, it explains nothing about Krupp Works. Without any additional knowledge of the factory and without time effects applied to the photography, we are unable to understand what happens inside the Krupp Works in its entirety.
