Health nutritionAging is hard, and unfortunately it is also inevitable. It's part of life and everyone who lives a normal life goes through it. Growing older is very difficult not only for the aging individual, but also for his or her loved ones. As most people age, they begin to require more and more care in order to live a normal life from one day to the next. Over time this level of care can become too much for their loved ones. When something like this happens, outside help is needed. This care can take the form of home care or transfer to a care facility. There are many people who end up needing a significant amount of care for which they need to be in a facility that can provide them with the type of care they need on a daily basis. Nursing homes and treatment centers are the last stop for many hospital patients. They can also be temporary places for people who are recovering from a stroke or surgery and need rehabilitation to get their lives back on track (Mcgrody). There is nothing wrong with moving into a nursing home, but it can be a very stressful time for the individual and their family, because the end of life is usually not too far away. Many people begin to have difficulty eating as they get older and this can cause nutrition levels to decline. Weight loss usually occurs due to this malnutrition. Part of the reason why difficulties like this can occur is due to the different aspects of mealtimes in nursing homes or care facilities. There are strategies to alleviate or help cope with problems that arise towards the end of life due to eating.
