The medical ethics argument states that legalizing euthanasia would violate one of the most important medical ethical principles, which, in the words of the International Code of Medical Ethics, is: “A doctor must always take into consideration the obligation to respect human life”. Asking doctors to give up their obligation to preserve human life could damage the doctor-patient relationship. Death regularly caused by euthanasia could become a routine task for doctors, leading to a lack of compassion when dealing with the elderly, disabled or terminally ill
