In previous years, schools were not required to update their code of conduct. Technology is advancing rapidly and students are creating new ways to bully others through the use of social media. Students are part of a generation where technology is essential and made accessible 24 hours a day. Schools now need to frequently update their code of conduct to keep up with what advances in technology have to offer bullies. Madera High School's code of conduct is currently outdated, here are some recommendations this group has developed to protect victims of bullying and prevent further problems from being generated. The Code of Conduct must separately list minor and serious misconduct with the required action. Minor behaviors include posting an offensive comment towards a person and constantly sending rude messages via email and can be handled by detention or castration before a meeting with the bully's parents. Examples of important behaviors are making a death threat to a classmate, blackmailing, and posting a video that may cause provocation or humiliation and can be handled with detention or suspension. After three minor and one serious offenses, including the victim not wanting to return to school, the bully should be transferred to another school to keep the victim safe. In conclusion, any type of bullying or harassment should not be taken lightly and receive appropriate punishment in order to prevent what could be a student's first step in committing
