The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of the country of South Africa. Through historical context and detailed explanation of the cultural aspects of the country, we will try to explain why South Africa is called the “Rainbow Nation” and why Apartheid was important. National and economic influences are intertwined with cultural values and are a good example of how South Africa today is divided between its native, deep-rooted and espoused values, and those values inherited from British and Dutch dictators. With a brief overview of traditional foods and drinks, this document also addresses the socio-political perspective of South Africa and its business practices. Finally, the article summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the country in order to provide a broader picture of the current situation in South Africa and its possible future prospects.
