Not all leaders are as famous as Martin Luther King, most leaders are ordinary people; you can walk down the street and meet someone and not know that they are a very powerful leader. I personally know a good leader who is an ordinary person; my father. Although some people believe that leaders are born and not made, I believe that anyone can become a leader if they have enough courage and thick skin. There are many words that come to people's minds when they are asked to describe what makes a good leader. The most popular characteristics used to describe a good leader would be a good listener, responsible and decisive. When you think about what makes a good leader you should also ask yourself what kind of education they have and what would make them a good leader. The first important key role in being a leader is being a good listener. Some may ask: why should they be good listeners if they are leaders? Shouldn't they be the ones doing the talking and not the listening? Yes, they are the leader, but they must listen and follow directions so as not to miss any important information. They need to do this so they can know how to instruct their team on what to do. Leaders always seek and encourage the team to give them feedback so they can work to improve themselves. The reason leaders like to listen to feedback is that they can know what would be considered their strength so they can work on that and make it even better. Likewise they must listen to criticism about what they did that was a weakness in them, so they know what things they should avoid. If someone calls themselves a leader but doesn't like to accept positive criticism, they're probably not a true leader.
