I'm here to talk about what's happening in the country and what decisions are being made around the world. Some adolescents may have interesting ideas and perspectives on what is happening that they cannot share now (Debono). Some would say it would be more democratic if 16-year-olds could vote. The more people vote, the more voice citizens have. It could also increase voter turnout. In the United States, 60% of citizens currently vote. The cons though, I think they outweigh the pros. Because teenagers spend all their time in the classroom, they have no real-world experience. You also have to think about what's really on someone's mind at that time in life: prom, high school, friends, and grades. They are not worried about voting or making decisions for our country. Even if they were, consider the maturity level of 16-17 year olds. If 16-year-olds are not mature enough to consume alcohol or use tobacco, the vote is no different (Debono). To me, lowering the voting age to 16 is absurd. Teenagers have no real world experience. At 16, people are just starting to understand how government works and how their decisions will affect government
