A father actively participates and remains present in his children's lives; helping them grow, raising and nurturing them as they attend plays and basketball games. A father is more of an organic term for a reproductive assistant. They provide the necessary components to create a child, and thereafter their role and obligations to the child cease. Fathers do not need to be present to make their biological contributions or have a child. Here lies the difference between a dad and a father. Of course, this differentiation is mine, however I'm sure single mothers recognize the difference between the two and would agree with me. They experience firsthand how the differences between being a dad and being a father influence those of their children
