“The fault, dear Brutus, does not lie with the stars, but with ourselves, who are subordinates”. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is a novel about the love life of cancer survivor Hazel Grace and amputee Augustus Waters by John Green. Hazel meets Augustus Waters in a support group. This is where the love story begins. Augustus makes her believe that the world is a wish-granting factory. Love continued to connect through a book titled The Imperial Affliction titled Peter Van Houten. The book is about a girl named Anna and her life as a cancer fighter until her death. But that's the dilemma. The book ends mid-sentence without a proper ending. After numerous emails and letters to the author they finally get permission to go to Amsterdam to hear the real ending. And so they got tickets to Amsterdam using Augustus' one wish from the "Make a Wish" foundation (since Hazel had already used hers at Disneyland). In Amsterdam they shared a magical night under the stars at a truly elegant restaurant called Orangee. They were even able to go to Anne Frank's house. When the day of visiting Peter Van Houten arrived, they were very disappointed. It turned out that Peter was an alcoholic and was unable to give them the ending. Hazel was devastated that she had chased the answer for so long and yet still hadn't found it. But Augustus promises her that he will write one for her that would be better than Peter's. Soon after the trip to Amsterdam Augustus says his cancer was returning but was still bearable. But not long after he was sent to intensive care. With Augustus suffering from cancer, Hazel is heartbroken. Augustus is left from the intensive care unit for a couple of weeks where he spends his last moments with family and friends. During that…half of the paper…there is some mature content that younger audiences wouldn't understand. The book doesn't have a specific gender or type of person that it appeals to. The Fault in Our Stars is a book full of humor and tragedy. An example of humor came towards the end when Hazel went to visit Augustus' family and there were a bunch of kids running around playing tag. One started yelling at another, calling each other stupid and one pulled the other and it started playing like a song full of stupid things. Relate The Fault In Our Stars really captures how a cancer survivor actually lives. When we see cancer survivors we usually pity them and feel sorry for them as they said so in the book. But this time they show it from the cancer survivor's point of view and describes how they feel about the way we are treating them. It shows us their side of the story.
