The Pursuit of Happyness caught my attention because it was an attractive film, then an inspiring story, and now a source of my inner energy. Whenever there is a low mood creeping in nearby, I would watch it all over again to regain the strength to fight. A great story makes a great film and a great character gives it soul. Chris Gardner is the spirit of the film that makes it a classic for me. I felt grateful when Chris showed me what responsibility, perseverance and optimism are. The first gift Chris gave me was the full interpretation of responsibility. When Chris Gardner was abandoned by his wife and became a homeless odd-time salesman with a five-year-old son, he didn't ruin his life. I see a mature and courageous man. Even though tears were already clouding his eyes, he held his son close and didn't forget to tell him knock-knock jokes. He knows the art of being a good father. Fatherhood has become for Chris the source of energy and the reason to carry on even when life falls apart. I didn't become a father, but I think that being responsible is common to men of every era.
