Many do not have the ability to ascertain the amount of information needed to make an informed decision about post-secondary education. There is abundant amounts of information about post-secondary education, and it is too much for students to sift through if they are considering multiple colleges or universities. The quality of the information can also vary, and the most reliable information often requires payment. This forces many students to sift through dozens of pieces of information, some of which may even be inaccurate. However, the student has no way to discern right from wrong. Very few students have enough experience to adequately choose the professional field they wish to pursue. Many students change their major once in college because they walk into a classroom or lab and understand the true nature of the field they are studying.
