Topic > Reducing Procrastination by High School Students

As I sit at my desk trying to start this very task, I run into a wall; I have no idea what I want to write. It's not that I can't think of a reason, even if that's what I tell myself. I haven't even tried, so I'm just sitting here staring at a blank screen. “Well, maybe I can do it over the weekend, I have Sunday off, yeah, that will work perfectly,” I think to myself. “What harm could it do, after all it's just one day, it's no big deal.” Then I thought back to not even two weeks earlier, I had a lab report in chemistry; I was sitting at home on a Sunday evening and had every intention of writing my report but then, as soon as I got out the computer, I lost all motivation to write it. Before, writing my lab report had seemed like a great idea, you know, to get ahead and all that, but now all I was wondering was, “I have time later this week, and what's the game? " When Monday arrived and the Friday deadline loomed closer. I came home from a tough workout, sat down, ate, and realized, “I'm going to train tomorrow morning. I am tired. I'm going to bed. It can wait. Then came Tuesday and Wednesday, all with the same story. When it was Thursday evening I hadn't even looked at the lab results, I decided I finally had to write them down. When I looked at the blank document in front of me, I had no idea what to write. The workshop ended a week ago and I really didn't remember it very well. Eventually I started writing. It got progressively easier as I went along. In about an hour I was done. As I read through the calculations I would need to complete, I noticed that there would also be some graphs with this ratio, but I was tired so I guess I always arrived in the morning and went to bed. I worked on the relationship whenever I could. .....middle of paper......care. (n.d.). Retrieved from http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/Departments/studevgt/onlinsts/time/procrastination.htmGrohol, J.
