Nursing as a profession is the provision of primary healthcare to individuals, families and communities with compassion and respect for patients. As one of the most important elements of healthcare professions, it is essential to understand the various aspects of the role of nursing professionals. Although nursing students and currently practicing nursing professionals may have differing opinions about the roles that nursing professionals play within the healthcare profession and society as a whole, there are some elements that are easily identified by all professionals as integral of this position, such as good record keeping that helps identify risk and early diagnosis of complications. The roles of nursing professionals are as follows: providing healthcare services to patients and supporting patients' families in difficult times. This includes serving as educators, advocates, mentors and advocates for change, all while providing care to patients and support to families during potentially difficult times. To start, the first most common role of the nursing professional is, as stated above, the primary role of nursing professionals is the provision of healthcare services to patients and support to family members. In other words, I can say that healthcare delivery is the foundation of nursing. Without healthcare, nursing wouldn't be as important as it is now, people would be dying from diseases they know absolutely nothing about. To continue, the second most common role of the nursing profession is that of educator; however, this role can manifest itself in many different ways. Probably the most common is when a nursing professional provides training or educational development to other nurses… the focus of the paper… professionals really play an important role in the medical field. Only in this way can the role of the nursing figure be fully defined: it has no definition, but is made up of a series of roles and responsibilities that reflect the needs of the individual, the environment, the patients and their families. . Nursing professionals meet the needs of patients and assist patients during their recovery process and act as lifesavers while assessing the needs of their patient nursing roles. This is why I view the nursing profession as a healthcare provider, educator, advocate, mentor, and advocate for change. It is a tough delegate profession that encompasses a range of roles and responsibilities that reflect the needs of the individual, the environment, other nursing professionals, patients and their families.
