The characters of the color purpleIn The Color Purple, by Alice Walker, Celie, Nettie and Mr.______ are developed gradually over the course of the novel and their actions all they seem to be intertwined and what happens to one of them affects one if not both of the other two. There is a strong relationship between Celie and Nettie not only because they are siblings but because Nettie is one of the two people Celie loves, and this does not exist between Celie and any of her other siblings. There are various things that bring these two even closer together, one being the discovery that they both come from different fathers, which Celie finds out from a letter from Nettie that says "...and I pray with all my heart that you receive this letter , if none of the other Pa is not our Pa." (182) and what they thought was their real father was actually just their stepfather. This brings them closer because it is so important and they are direct relatives of each other since both parents are dead and they have no other brothers or sisters. The second point is that they keep in touch when Nettie travels to and from Africa. This is more or less an escape for Celie because she has no one she loves except Shug, so the letters are a way for Celie to stay not only with Nettie but also with her two children who she has only seen for a long time. couple of days in his entire life. So the main bond between Nettie and Celie is one of love, and they demonstrate this by constantly trying to stay in touch even if they don't know if the other receives the letters. Mr. ______ and Nettie's relationship goes drastically from love to hate. Nettie first introduces Mr. ______ into the story as the man she will marry, one day Celie says to Nettie "I say marry him, Nettie." but when the marriage is canceled because she is too young and dad wants to keep her in school, but Mr. ______ is given Celie along with a cow, so in the marriage with Celie Mr. ______ realizes that he will never have Nettie but continues to do so he loves but Nettie begins to distance herself from him, due to his marriage to her sister.
