In this article I will discuss the authority of Scripture and how it plays a role in how the Bible is taught in Christian education. I will discuss and say what the Bible is. I will discuss several interviews about what others think the role of the Bible is in the Christian faith and what I believe the role of the Bible is in the Christian faith. I will also discuss how I will teach the Bible in the Christian faith after listening to others and completing this course. Authority of the Scriptures What is the authority of the Scriptures? Let me start by first defining the word authority. Authority is “the power to influence or command thoughts, opinions, or behavior” (Webster Ninth New Collegiate Dictonary, 1990) How do we interpret the Scriptures? It could be through interaction in prayer or when we first become a new Christian on our faith journey. We also interpret the Scriptures based on the events and traditions that are happening in our lives right now. As we look at the Scriptures we can relate them to our faith journey and we can seek comfort and meaning through the Scriptures.
