St. Francis of Assisi was considered a magnificent man. He had a very attractive lifestyle that people now know and talk about every day. By learning many new and discovered things about St. Francis, I have gained a better understanding of him. This article will describe in depth the life of Saint Francis by talking about his early life, his imprisonment and his orientation towards God, his works and his teachings. Francis was born in Assisi, Italy, in 1181. At the time of his birth, he was declared a sinner, meaning that he did many things against God in his youth. Francis grew up as one of many children; his parents' names were Pietro and Pica Bernardone. His father Pietro was a rich fabric merchant and owned agricultural land. His mother, Pica, was a wonderful Frenchwoman. His parents' social status indicates that Francis was very wealthy growing up. When Francesco was baptized, he obtained the name Giovanni, which was later changed to Francesco by his father due to his affection for France and because his affairs had directed him there when Francesco was born. When Francis was growing up, he was not a very studious child. Initially Francis received elementary instructions from the priests of San Giorgio in Assisi, then he learned more at the school of the Troubadours, who in that period were working for the improvement of Italy. Because he resisted learning, Francis's literary education was limited. During his adolescence, Francis was very spoiled. Francis lavished himself on exceptional food, drink and women; even when he was sick he had people who came to take care of him. He was much worshiped and favored by many people, that's why no one tried to limit him or teach him. At one point, Francesco was known as... middle of paper... old ears. Francis is the patron saint of ecologists and traders and is said to be the founder of all Franciscan orders. Today Francis is placed in the church of San Giorgio, visible to all to see his stigmata. Many miracles have happened in this church where he resides. Francis is an all-round wonderful saint, who did many great things throughout his life. In closing, Francis really showed how great he truly was by entering the world as a sinner but changing his way of life through captivity and turning to God and leaving the world as the very important saint we know today.
