Implementation plan for a new knowledge management system IntroductionThe knowledge management system (KM system) is a system for managing knowledge in organizations, supporting the creation , the acquisition, storage and dissemination of information. The idea of a KM system is to allow employees to have immediate access to the organization's documented base of facts, information sources and solutions. Successful companies are able to acquire, codify and transfer knowledge more effectively and faster than their competitors. KM is the name given to the set of systematic actions that an organization can take to obtain maximum value from the knowledge at its disposal. Leadership/ManagementThe roles of leadership and management are intertwined and the distinction between management and leadership is not always obvious. Classical functions such as planning, organizing and controlling are considered within the boundaries of management. Management deals with decision making related to processes and functions. To improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. Leadership is about motivating and supporting people to realize their potential and achieve challenging and difficult goals. Among leadership styles, situational leaders focus on various task and relational behaviors, while transformational leaders can inspire followers, meet their developmental needs, and encourage new approaches and greater efforts toward problem solving. KM is about using people to improve the organization's knowledge base. The roles of the people participating in the KM initiative and the processes associated with KM must first be clearly defined. Without such formal definition and approval of roles, KM would lack support from top management and functional managers. A KM system cannot be left to voluntary participation. KM must encourage people to interact within and across disciplines and functions; each person brings specific skills and experience. Defining the role of each member would help in knowledge creation and sharing. By defining processes and roles and communicating what is expected of all members of the KM community, you can establish both predictability and openness, both of which can be used to develop expectations and manage outcomes. Trust and open communication are essential to cultivating human relationships. Predictability and openness are important factors in establishing trust. Because people are motivated by the challenges and opportunities to pursue their career goals, participants are almost always interested in achieving personal and professional goals in addition to completing their routine responsibilities. Therefore, it is imperative that KM leadership understands and supports people's personal aspirations and aligns them with the organization's goals..
